When creating her oil portraits, Pat O'Brien paints a crowd, one person at a time. The paintings are on the verge of a narrative, revealing pieces of the story through expressive eyes, and leaving the rest for the viewer to decide. By manipulating the tools available to an artist, light, palette, composition and more, expressions are coaxed from the canvas.
Her path from electrical engineer to self-taught artist has guided her in questioning, experimenting, and problem solving.
In the brushstrokes of her floral paintings, she interprets the grace and beauty of nature's blossoms.
Her canvas work continues to be featured in gallery exhibitions, BSA Show Houses, media, and public and private commissions.
